Whispers at Moonrise A Shadow Falls Novel C C Hunter Books

As promised I’m still featuring the Shadow falls series, and hopefully until the September ends I’ll have all the books covered so in October I can read the 3rd book Shadow Falls: After Dark series without any delay. But let me get back to this book. It was amazing. And it occurred to me that I have read this one only once, as apparently I didn’t remember many details. I did remember that some of the new characters were not all that great, but it still made as a shock to me when I read it.

Another thing and no matter how big of a fan I’m of Lucas, he’s one big jerk and in this book he disappointed me so much, that I accepted all of Kylie’s choices. I would have her gone straight into Derek’s arms, but she really did love Lucas too much to do that. Well, let me now explain without giving too much, as I don’t want to spoil what is going on there. We left Kylie finally finding out what she is a chameleon, and finally in this book we get to know what it means and she exhibits some awesome powers throughout the book. The awkward moments are on every page; you just can’t stop laughing either on Della’s and Miranda’s fights or on some pretty weird family issues. The best part is when in a moment of disaster Kylie goes puff! You have to read it for yourself, just remembering makes my tummy hurt from laughter.

Some of our favourite characters find new powers, and one couple finally gets together for good. Who? As if I would spoil this awesome moment. I do want to, but if I do, I know that some of you will hate me. I don’t wan that. Well, I guess this review is relatively small, as I’ll make the last book’s review much more interesting. Hopefully… We do not get to see Mario, but there are some bad people lurking and the ending just makes your heart break. Literally, I’m still coming around as to what happened.

I hope you’ll grab your copy now and enjoy it to its fullest!

Whispers at Moonrise A Shadow Falls Novel C C Hunter Books Reviews

C.C Hunter has once again delivered a fantastic installment in the Shadow Falls series, Whispers at Moonlight, this series just keeps getting better and better!

For those of you who haven't read the previous books in this series and you love books about the supernatural, complete with all different types of supernatural species, great character detail, great plots full of action and mystery and of course great romance, then this series is for you. I promise this series will not disappoint you - so get to it!

This book is definitely my favorite installment to the series so far, I was completely absorbed in the plot, which involved Kylie's further self-development. The reader finally discovers what species she actually belongs too and has a lot of questions answered, which naturally results in more questions left pending. And it doesn't end there, the readers gains so much insight; into her love life drama between two boys, her family drama with her parents, school starting with intriguing new teachers and new freshman students on the prowl for future mates and her latest ghost visitor who has warned her someone very close to her is in danger and is fighting against the clock to figure out the next mystery before it is too late.

What I love about this series is the range of characters and how they are constantly evolving throughout the series. Each character is brilliantly written and very likeable in their own individual ways but I would like to make a special mention about my two favorite characters, who would have to be from the vampire corner, Burnett and Della. Both of these characters show such a hard, cold, complex, stand off-ish exterior but slowly remove their layers to show they are warm, loyal, trustworthy, pure hearted, with a firm grasp on the true value of friendship and love. I really admire the author's ability to create such multifaceted characters that help to tell a great story.

Now, this love triangle between Kylie, Lucas and Derek - I have to say I am team Derek all the way!
So far, all I have witnessed in this relationship between Kylie and Lucas is a great physical attraction which may simply be lust for each other, even though they say the love each other, how can they? I know they have a past going back to when they were kids but at the moment Kylie needs him the most to help and support her with her new self-discovery and ghost issues, he is never around. Lucas has his own issues and goals that he is trying to deal with and conquer, none of which he can be open and honest about with Kylie. The whole time he is expecting Kylie's trust and understanding only to show his true colours through the way he treats Kylie at the end of this book. This tells me he is a huge JACKASS! No matter what his reasons are or what he is trying to achieve, no girlfriend should have to supportive of those kinds of actions!

In complete opposition to Lucas is Derek - sweet, sweet Derek, who has told Kylie directly he is in love with her, who is supportive and understanding of her new self discovery and ghost issues. He is her rock and a great friend and in my opinion he understands who Kylie is and what she will become. I only wish there was more focus on his character in this book, hopefully the next installment will have a happy ending for Derek - please, please, please; fingers crossed!!

I love the way this book ended. It was so unexpected and brilliantly written that I am now desperate to read the next and final installment to this series. I am intrigued to finally see how this story ends for Kylie and the related characters. So my copy of "Chosen at Nightfall" has now been pre-ordered and the count down is on, bring on April 23rd!!
Kylie Galen has always been something of a mystery in the supernatural world, her brain pattern was never one particular type such as a witch or vampire and she really just longed to be considered "normal" by their standards. Shadow Falls had become her home and her friends and Holiday were her support system despite the other campers considering her a freak. A visit from a ghost who looks a lot like Holliday has Kylie freaking out trying to determine if this is a warning or the woman was just confused and looks like her friend. Kylie needs to solve the woman's murder before it is too late and one of her friend's could be in danger so time is of the essence. The love triangle continues as Lucas is drifting away from her in his efforts to be considered for the Were Council and despite his assurances that he still cares for her, she is feeling abandoned as neither his father or his pack support their being together. He would give his life protecting her yet would not stand up against his family for her, kind of like wanting to have his cake and eat it too. Derek after confessing that he still loves her, realizes he messed up but tries to be there as a friend and would love to take things further. Kylie feels something more for him than a friend but her heart beats for Lucas even though they are more like star-crossed lovers. Changes start happening where Kylie is becoming a vampire one minute and a witch the next, scaring the hell out of her and Kylie is depressed about not being able to control the changes in her body. Feeling more like a freak than ever and isolated from Lucas, Kylie will make a choice that could change her life forever and she will be betrayed by someone close to her. I loved Della, she is one great friend and kick ass vampire who loves Kylie no matter who or what she is. Having friends like Meagan and Derek mean the world to Kylie but is that enough? This book does have lots of action but it is more about girl experiencing the highs and lows of being in love and dealing with the heartbreak of secrets that are finally revealed.
